Terracotta Hedgehog Votive, ca. 2000-1000 BC. A simple terracotta hedgehog votive painted light grey-blue. Length: 7.8 cm; Width: 6.3cm.

For the Egyptians, hedgehogs were an earthly representation of reincarnation. The Egyptians mistook hedgehogs natural hibernation schedule as reincarnation.
