Magna Graecia. Black-ware Kylix, ca. 4th Century BC. A small shallow cup with two handles and a small foot base. The inside of the cup is finished by an impressed design of notches and lines surrounding three petal impressed circles. Along the walls of the interior and reaching almost to the lip of the cup is an impasto glaze pattern taking the form of off white vines and leaves and red-orange berries. Very rare and impressive. Minor Restoration to one handle. The silver-grey glaze is offset by excellent detailing of the bowl forms a lovely metallic sheen. Height: 2 1/8 in (5.5 cm); Diameter: 3 4/5 in (9.6 cm).
