JESS OPPENHEIMER, I LOVE LUCY, "OPPY AWARD" plus SIGNED AUTOBIOGRAPHY. Jess Oppenheimer (1913-1988) legendary television and radio writer, producer, director was the producer and head writer for I LOVE LUCY and declared "the brains" behind the beloved sitcom by none other than Ms. Ball herself. Writing the pilot and 153 other episodes of the show with other collaborators, Oppenheimer is a very well known talent to devotees of The Lucy Show and historians of early broadcast television. Oppenheimer is memorialized at the Lucille Ball-Desi Arnaz Center in Jamestown, New York. Offered is a unique and hilarious spoof of the legendary "Oscar" statuette that Oppenheimer had made to give to his inner circle on the show at his going away party at the end of the 5th season of I LOVE LUCY in 1956. Whoever sculpted these "awards" the likeness is extraordinary. The statuette measures 10½" tall and appears to be made of plaster. Also included is a note of thanks by Mr. Oppenheimer signed "Jess" dated 11/16/63 regarding a party as well as a signed copy of LAUGHS, LUCK….AND LUCY inscribed to Danny Cahn (son of I LOVE LUCY's editor, Dann Cahn) and a television editor, director and producer in his own right, by co-writer of the book Gregg Oppenheimer, son of Jess Oppenheimer. A must for collectors of I LOVE LUCY memorabilia and vintage television.
