Lot 789
1879. PCGS graded Proof 64. Lovely gold and lavender to vibrant blue toning. Only 1,100 struck. Reflective field luster around light satiny, almost cameo devices. A sign of strength in the devices is seen throughout the obverse stars and Liberty’s figure, along with a very well impressed shield. Impressive, as well is the bold eagle, but here it is probably that the dies were spaced just close enough together to prevent perfect metal flow into the deepest die recesses. A very presentable 1879 Seated Half Dollar. Pop 91; 41 finer, 25 in 65, 2 in 65+, 13 in 66, 1 in 67. (PCGS # 6440) . Estimated Value $1,600 - 1,700.
