1841 Baltimore City Guard Silver Shooting Medal. The Baltimore City Guard was a Maryland local militia and served in The 2nd Brigade of The First Light Division during the civil war. This 1.8 oz. ornately decorated silver medal bears inscription "The Baltimore City Guards to Wm. B. Boyd" on the obverse and "For the Second Best Shot, August 9th, 1841" on the reverse. Probably an award medal for a local shooting competition or during the training of the militia in early 1840s. Extremely attractive and very original without any damage.
Estimated Value $2,000 - 2,500.
Purchased from Anne Arundel House Antiques, Dave Mark in Maryland 15 years ago.

Realized $2,350
