1848 Braided Hair Half Cent. Restrike. PCGS graded Proof 66 Red And Brown. One of the finest graded of this rare issue, this coin boasts deep steel brown color with some original red near the devices. Boldly struck and very well preserved, the fields and devices don't have the usual problems found on early copper. Slight weakness is noted on the upper wreath and some of the letters are not as fully struck as one might expect. One for the type collector who wants a truly superb example of this scarce early proof issue.
