Lot 396

1816 Braided Hair Cent. . N-2. PCGS graded MS-63 Brown and Del Bland graded AU-55. A nice example of this hoard variety, free from carbon and with only a few microscopic handling marks. Lovely, lustrous medium steel brown with a generous amount of faded mint red, the reverse with slightly iridescent steel blue overtones.
The die engraving on this variety resembles an "office boy" style, the date shows recutting and the reverse lettering is poorly placed with varying spaces between most of the letters in the legend. Impressive and well struck, this one should find a new home without any trouble.
Estimated Value $300 - 400.
No pedigree information included, but probably purchased near the end of WWII.

Realized $604
