Caracalla, 198-217 AD. AR Tetradrachm of Beroea, Syria Cyrrhestica, struck 213-217 AD. Scarcer mint. Interesting symbol. Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Caracalla right. Reverse: Eagle standing frontal, head left with wreath in beak; below feet, B and E on either side of facing bird (phoenix?). BMC --; SNG Cop. --; Bellinger 38, 80. Soft, matte gray patina, with areas of luster beneath. Extremely Fine.
