Lot 2107

1889-CC. PCGS graded MS-64 Deep Mirror Prooflike. One of the rarest dates of the entire Morgan Dollar series, all serious collectors have trouble locating a strong example for their date sets. This one is a magnificent example of this date. Only 350,000 were struck, and precious few were saved in mint state. It is unknown how many were found in Treasury bags, perhaps not even a full bag as less than 400 have been graded in Mint State by PCGS. Of those graded, this is one of the best, only 13 have been graded this high with deep mirror prooflike surfaces, another 13 have been graded either prooflike or regular uncirculated as MS-64. Now, here's the important part, only 2 coins have been graded higher! One in MS-65, the other MS-68.
This particular coin has snow deep frost on the devices and deep reflective fields. The rims are enhanced by light gold toning on both sides. A glass will note the usual scattering of tick marks from bag handling, nothing deep or annoying. If you need a really special coin for your date set, then look no further than this lot and give it the strong bid it deserves.
Estimated Value $35,000 - 45,000.
