Lot 1317

1903 Indian Head Cent. A most interesting item that is mounted in a custom frame with a photograph of a native American chief. Below is a small card which states "First cent coined/in 1902/at the new U.S. Mint/Phila." and signed John Landis/Coiner. The cent is proudly mounted at the center of the card, and appears to be mint state, with brown toning and slightly wood grain in appearance. The reverse is not visible in the frame. A fascinating item which no doubt has quite a provenance, originally in the collection of Wayte Raymond, the famous American dealer.
Estimated Value $2,500-UP.
