Israel, Modelia, The Peacock by Eliezer Weishoff, Bronze Wall Plaque, 1997. Large framed 6 1/2 x 8" very high relief bronze medal issued by the Israel Government Coins & Medals Corp. Maximum of 777 authorized. Weighs 1500 gm. (about 4 pounds). Frame measures about 11 x 12", with COA on back. Original cost from the IGCMC was $285. This is a fabulous item for a peacock lover.

The colorful silk print created by Eliezer Weishoff, featuring a peacock hovering above an imaginary Jerusalem. The print is set in a cast elliptic decorative Modelia. Two sculpted peacocks surround the print in a flowing motion. The verse "AS BIRDS FLYING SO WILL THE LORD DEFEND JERUSALEM" (Isaiah 31:5), appears in Hebrew along the upper border and in English along the lower border. The artist's signature is embossed close to the lower edge of the Modelia.

In poems by Haim Nahman Bialik, Israel’s national poet, and the Yiddish poet Itzhak Manger, the peacock hovering above the city of Jerusalem is an expression of the yearning for spiritual enrichment – a place of fullness and untold splendor.
Estimated Value $100 - 150.
