Woollett, Boydell and Ryland, London, "From the original Picture in the Collection of Lord Grosvenor" and dedicated to George III. Woollett was appointed historical engraver to His Majesty in 1775. This was the first engraving from West's great historic painting and is considered Woollett's masterpiece.

The Duke of York was known for his military failures, which were immortalized in a rhyme: "The grand old Duke of York, He had ten thousand men. He marched them up to the top of the hill,And he marched them down again…."
