Lafayette, Marquis de (1757-1834) (1757-1834) French aristocrat, soldier, and statesman. He was a general in the American Revolution and head of the Garde Nationale during the French Revolution.

Manuscript copy of a letter from General Leray signed "true copy Lafayette," 2pp, in French, 8¾ x 7¼", Pierrelatte, Oct. 28, 1828. Leray explains in detail problems with a project involving property in which he and Lafayette were interested and gives numerous excuses as to why he wasn't able to carry through on the project, but announces that he has not given up and that his intentions were never to harm Lafayette's interests, etc., etc. Fine.
