Lot 731

1821 N-1 R1 AU55. A mint state cent that was lightly cleaned and has retoned frosty bluish steel brown and light chocolate with subtle overtones of sea-green. The only notable marks, and they are barely visible, are a pair of closely-spaced horizontal hairline scratches under star 8 and a microscopic planchet flake on the midpoint of the jawline (as struck). Sharply struck MDS with two very fine die cracks on the reverse but no cracks on the obverse. The reverse fields are slightly reflective thanks to a fresh die polishing. Graded AU58 by Bland. Noyes says MS60 net AU55, his photo #24142.
Estimated Value $3,000-UP.
