1798 S-155 R3 Style I Hair, Small 8, Reverse of 1796 F12. Sharpness VF30 but the obverse shows numerous microscopic contact marks (mostly fine hairline scratches) and the reverse has patches of shallow corrosion. No verdigris, and the defects are masked somewhat by attractive glossy light to medium chocolate brown toning that fades to darker chocolate and olive brown in protected areas. MDS, Breen state III, with a fine die crack from the rim through the 7 ending at the hair above. Called net VF20 by Bland. Noyes says VF20 net VG10, his photo #32120.
