1798/7 S-151 R3 Overdate 8 over 7 VG10. The "Close Overdate." Sharpness VF20 or better but the planchet is covered with extremely fine granularity and there is a large patch of very shallow corrosion covering much of the portrait. Rather glossy dark steel and olive brown with hints of reddish steel in protected areas. Probably retoned. M-LDS with several die cracks in the field behind the portrait and a single crack from the rim through the E in AMERICA. to the leaf below. The date and legends are bold and the overdate is obvious.
