Lot 484

1798 S-147 R5- Style I Hair, Large 8 F12. Slightly sharper but there are a few nicks on both sides, including one on the neck, another on the shoulder, a dull rim nick at the second S in STATES, and a small rim nick under the right end of the fraction. None of these marks is significant but there are too many for the higher grade. Glossy steel brown and light chocolate. EDS, Breen state I. The reverse is uncracked. Called VG10 and tied for CC#10 in the Bland census. Noyes says F15 net VG10 (although he used to call it net F12) and tied for CC#6, his photo #23013. This is one of only a very few of the variety seen with smooth surfaces. And it comes with an impressive provenance.
Estimated Value $1,000-UP.
