Lot 469

1797 S-140 R1 VF30. Glossy olive brown and chocolate. Sharper by perhaps 5 points but the toning is a little on the dark side. No corrosion or verdigris and the eye appeal is excellent. The only marks are a small planchet chip in the field off the tip of the nose and another on the bust, both as struck, plus a pin prick over the A in STATES and a light rim bruise over that same letter. M-LDS, Breen state VI. The die crack arcing across the bust is clear and swelling at ES-OF-A is obvious. Called VF30 by Del Bland.
Estimated Value $1,000-UP.
Ex Kagin's #333, 3/30/1984:1204-Dr. Philip W. Ralls.

Realized $1,586
