Jewish-American Hall of Fame (Magnes Museum) and Other Privately Issued Judaica Medals. Nat Sobel's inspiring 2 1/" Peace Medals were issued in honor of Israel's 40th anniversary. The obverse is composed of an Israeli Kibbutznik and an Arab, arm in arm, forming the face of their mutual forbearer Abraham. The reverse features the word "Peace" in many different languages plus a dove holding an olive branch. Included is silver version weighing 5 troy oz, gold-plated bronze and bronze. Two have certificates hand-signed by Sobel. The 2 1/2" bronze Zweifach Award is given out by the USA Microcirculatory Society. Arthur Welsh 2 1/4" medals were issued by the Greater Washington Historical Society for the 100th anniversary of the death of this Wright Brothers Pilot, instructor and pioneer Jewish aviator (obverse inscription); the reverse features an early better items-plane and the quote from General Hap Arnold: "Welsh taught me everything I know." The Welsh medals are bronze, silver (2.8 troy oz. pure), and gold-plated silver (2.8 troy oz. pure). The Genesis 2 1/2" bronze medal features the first word in the Bible "Bereshet" (In the beginning) in Hebrew; the exceptional design depicts the transformation of the formless earth into the waters and firmament. The Exodus 2 1/4" silver medal is 197 gm. 999 fine, serial number 29 on edge, inscribed "And they Wandered." In addition there is an Exodus bronze medal with a matte finish. Outstanding and rare works of medallic art by Brian Watkins.
