A large and impressive custom made wood framed award, the center in silver and black, from Pinellas County, Florida and its cities, the citation named to "Colonel Edwin E. Aldrin, Jr. as a member of the Crew of Apollo XI". Overall size, 17.5" wide by 27.75" high. With original Smithsonian inventory tag*. Excellent condition; ready for hanging or display. *When Buzz Aldrin decided to sell the collection of Apollo XI and other space related memorabilia he acquired, by award or gift, as a result of his history making Moon Landing on July 20, 1969, all of the items first were sent to the Smithsonian Institution in Washigton, D.C., so pieces from Aldrin's collection could be selected for the national museum's collection. The balance was returned to Aldrin, often with small gummed yellow or blue inventory tags attached. Over time these tags have come to be considered a pedigree and authentication for much of Aldrin's space memorabilia that has come to the collector market. Estimated Value $250 - 350
