Anthony, Susan B., Alice Stone Blackwell, and Harriet Taylor Upton. Check signed by Susan B. Anthony as President, Alice Stone Blackwell as Recording Secretary, and Harriet Taylor Upton as Treasurer of the National-American Woman Suffrage Association, 6¼ x 2½ in. The check is drawn on the Association and paid to the United Typewriter Supply Co. in the amount of three dollars. Anthony and Blackwell signed in pencil; Upton signed and filled out the check in black ink. NAWSA was the largest and most important suffrage organization in the United States; its members pushed for a constitutional amendment guaranteeing women the right to vote, and was instrumental in winning the ratification of the Nineteenth Amendment to the U.
