Lot 416
1854 N-3 R1 NGC graded MS65 Red & Brown. Lustrous mint red fading to steel brown and chocolate with 20% of the red remaining on the obverse, 35% on the reverse. No spots or stains. The only marks are a dull nick on the upper point of star 8 and a light diagonal nick in the field close before the lips. LDS, die state b. The fine die line through star 6 is gone but the stray 4 punched into the curl over the left side of the 5 is clear. Our grade is MS63, tied for CC#1 honors in the Grellman census.
