Judea. Bar Kochba Revolt. Silver Zuz (3.3g), 132-135 C.E. Undated, attributed to year 3 (134/5 CE). (Simon); Bunch of grapes. Reverse (For the freedom of Jerusalem); Elongated lyre (a kinor or kithara) with three strings. Mildenberg 25 (O24/R133); TJC 274; Hendin 1435. Choice Very Fine.
The silver coins struck by the Jewish mints during the Bar Kochba Revolt are invariably overstruck on earlier coins. On this coin, the nose, chin, crown of the head and laurel wreath of the Roman emperor's portrait are all clearly visible on the obverse. Estimated Value $300 - 350
