Macedonian Kingdom. Philip II, 359-336 BC. Gold Quarter Stater (2.15g). Pella, possible lifetime issue, ca. 345/2-ca. 328 BC. Head of Herakles right, wearing lion's skin headdress. Reverse ΦIΛIΠΠOY, bow and club; below, trident head right. Le Rider 73 (D50/R36); SNG ANS 224 = SNG Berry 103 (same rev. die); SNG Alpha Bank 256. Well centered and nicely toned. Extremely Fine.
These fractions are scarce and often found in poor grade. This is a remarkably choice example. Estimated Value $3,000 - 3,500
