1798 S-162 R4 Small 8, Style I Hair NGC graded VF20. Attractive glossy chocolate brown. The surfaces are smooth and display only minor contact marks, including a couple nicks on the cheek. There is a small spot of fine but active verdigris covering two dentils just left of the fraction, and this spot appears to be removable. MDS, Breen state II. There is obvious swelling in the obverse fields and a die crack passes above OF-A. Our grade is F15+, close to VF20. Near the lower end of the condition census for this tough variety.
