Lot 168

1797 S-130 R2 NGC graded AU Details, Obverse Planchet Flaw. Sharpness EF40 or slightly better but there are some rather obvious shallow planchet voids or depressions on the bust. The remaining marks are relatively insignificant and include a few thin nicks at the dentils left of the hair ribbon and a dull rim nick at AM in AMERICA. Otherwise this cent is quite nice and the color is an attractive glossy chocolate brown and steel. Hints of very faded mint color are peeking through in a few of the protected areas at the top of the obverse. Late die state, Breen V late, with an unlisted cud break in the dentils over NIT in UNITED. The internal cud break in the field behind the head is complete and bold and the chips in the field before the portrait are clear. Our grade is net VF25+, close to VF30. Estimated Value $500-UP

Realized $1,064
