Lot 467

1835 N-10 R4+ Head of 1834 VF30. Glossy reddish steel brown and chocolate. The planchet is smooth and attractive. The only marks of any consequence are a shallow planchet flake right of star 4 and another under star 1, both as struck. E-MDS. The die crack at NITED-ST is clear but not strong. In addition, the blundered E in CENT (first punched into the die inverted, then corrected) is clear. This "blundered E" feature is present in all the die states of the variety, but you seldom find an example sharp enough to show it clearly. Certainly in the condition census for this tough variety.
Estimated Value $1,000-UP.
Ex Carvin Goodridge collection.

Realized $2,300
