Lot 3931

Great Britain. Third Guinea, 1797. Fr-365; S. 3738; KM-620. George III. Obverse: First laureate head. Reverse: Large crown with date in legend. Beautifully struck mint state with a subtle red tone and full underlying luster. NGC graded MS-64.

This was the first date in this short lived (1797-1813) series. This specimen may have been one of the first pieces minted. Certainly it has been struck to a higher standard than similar pieces which we have encountered.
Estimated Value $1,400 - 1,600.

Realized $1,380
