Lot 3919

Great Britain. Noble, ND PCGS graded Genuine AU Details. S.1520; Fr-98. Edward III, 1327-1377. Cleaned. Post Treaty Period.1369-1377. Calais mint. Obverse: King facing, standing in ship with sword and shield. Reverse: Floriated cross with E in center. Flag at stern of ship to denote Calais. A scarce coin with a higher than average catalogue value for this denomination, it is nicely struck with an outstanding portrait. There is a tiny striking crack of only 2 mm by E of EDWARD. Nevertheless, this is not uncommon on these early gold Nobles and enhances the originality of the coin. An overall good strike and nice original color.
Estimated Value $4,000 - 4,500.
