Elagabalus. AD 218-222. 40 mm Bronze Medallion of Thrace, Philippopolis. Laureate and cuirassed bust of Elagabalus right, wearing aegis. Reverse: Herakles standing facing, head left, resting club on ground and holding lion's skin. Cf. Varbanov 1721; Moushmov, Philippopolis 465. Extremely Rare. Dark glossy green and brown patina. Surfaces smoothed. Sharpness of Choice Very Fine.
