1912-D Liberty Nickel. PCGS graded MS-65. Nicely toned on both sides with bold frosty luster complementing the natural color. The branch Mints of the US were restricted to either silver and gold coins or (in the case of two pre Civil War Southern Mints, gold coins exclusively). This changed in 1908 when San Francisco was instructed to begin issuing one-cent pieces, and in 1912 when both Denver and San Francisco were authorized to strike five-cent "nickels" of the Liberty Head Type. Scarce. Pop 141; 32 finer, 3 in 65+, 29 in 66 (PCGS # 3874) .
