Lot 1800

1883-CC $20 Liberty. PCGS graded AU-58. Plenty of sparkling mint luster remains. With the 1884-CC, the 1883-CC is one of the more available Carson City issues in lower grades; the contrary applies to all CC Double Eagles in being rare and worthwhile coins higher conditions such as this attractive AU58 specimen. The 1883-CC has a high rate of survival estimated at 900 to 1,000+ coins extant, which is unusual for a frontier era gold coin. The original production was just 59,962 pieces. A few Mint States are reported. This offering, therefore, would seem to represent a significant opportunity for the well-heeled collector of Carson City Mint gold (PCGS # 8999) .
Estimated Value $4,000 - 4,400.
The Arden Collection.

Realized $6,325
