1879-CC $10 Liberty. NGC graded EF-40. Only 1,762 pieces struck. Mostly untoned with some luster still evident. This is near the top end of the readily affordable specimens, in higher grade the price escalates. The stunning Bass coin graded AU-55, for example, and is almost certainly the finest known, realized $48,300 many years ago. Mintage was small, with the usual survival rate of around one percent, that leaves about 25 to 40 coins for today's collectors to fight over. This splendid EF coin will certainly attract considerable attention and will no doubt be highly regarded by its new owner and others. Another desirable Carson City rarity.
