1861 $10 S.S. Republic. NGC graded MS-61. Fully lustrous and untoned. Marketed and packaged by Odyssey Marine Exploration. Includes booklet about the treasure and housed in a mahogany and brass box with a fine engraved front plate.

The SS Republic was a sidewheel steamship, originally named Tennessee (also named USS Mobile for a time), lost in a hurricane off the coast of Georgia in October 1865, en route to New Orleans.

In 2003, the wreck was located 100 miles off the coast of Savannah, Georgia, and rare coins and other artifacts were recovered. Many of the artifacts are on display in selected museums, along with video stories about passengers and crew members. The coins have become available to collectors. A total of 4 coins.
