Lot 1635

1850-O $10 Liberty. NGC graded AU-50. Only 57,500 made. Very scarce in grades above EF. The surface on this coin is somewhat rough and shows a few marks on Liberty's face, one chattermark in the field below the hair bun, andother between stars 7 and 8, and on the reverse, general overall roughness in the field and on the eagle. The eagle itself is somewhat weak as well, lacking some detail in the neck, inner wings, and left leg and claws, due to insufficient pressure applied to the dies. In its favor, the rims are generally unmarked. New Orleans in 1850, where this Eagle was minted, was a hub of activity and the greatest port in the United States at the time, servicing multitudinous importers and exporters all up and down the Mississippi River (PCGS # 8605) .
Estimated Value $1,800 - 1,900.
The Arden Collection.

Realized $3,680
