(1795) Washington North Wales Halfpenny with Plain Edge Breen-1294 NGC graded XF40. Glossy chocolate brown, lighter on the highpoints and darker in protected areas. No defects and very little wear for the grade. The strike is nice for the type, but it is always weak on the harp where it opposes the head and competes for planchet metal. Nicely centered on a defect-free planchet. A very nice example of this tough Washington halfpenny, fully comparable to the plate coin in the 2013 edition of the "Redbook," page 84.
