Lot 1519
1847-D $5 Liberty. NGC graded AU-50. Well struck and lustrous. Delicately toned. Date logotype has the upper right of 7 barely touching the neck truncation. Logotype punched deeply into the working die, as seems to be the rule for Dahlonega branch mint issues (so that they can be more easily relapped and kept in service longer?). A few light marks on the lower bust and at Liberty's forehead, though plainly above average when it comes to the coin’s attractive surface preservation (PCGS # 8234) . Estimated Value $1,900 - 2,000. The Arden Collection.
