Chaplin, Charlie (1889-1957) British silent screen comic actor and filmmaker, best known for his portrayal of the character, the LittleTramp; in 1919 he co-founded United Artists with Douglas Fairbanks, Mary Pickford, and D. W. Griffith. Vintage photo inscribed and signed "With best wishes / Charlie Chaplin / 1936," 11 x 14 in. Inscribed "To Edw Miller" at lower left in another hand. Large diagonal creases at upper left and lower right, not affecting Chaplin's image or writing. A handsome head-and-shoulders portrait.
