Lot 82

1813 S-293 R2 Turban Head. PCGS graded AU-58. Highly lustrous chocolate brown delicately mottled with olive and medium brown tones. A faint swipe of very shallow reddish chocolate verdigris shows at the top of star 11. The fields and protected areas are covered with satiny mint frost and the planchet quality is outstanding. There is a tiny pinprick in the field close before the browlock, a faint diagonal nick between the bases of the N & E in ONE, and a pair of faint diagonal hairline scratches under the fold of the wreath ribbon. Excellent eye appeal. Nicely struck MDS, Breen state IV. Our grade is AU50. The attribution and Paul Gerrie provenance are shown on the PCGS label. Previously removed from a PCGS slab graded MS62BN (PCGS label included). Pop 2; none finer at PCGS .
Estimated Value $6,000-UP.
