Lot 78

1810 S-285 R2 Turban Head PCGS "Genuine, Unc Details, Spot Removed". A lustrous mint state cent but there is a splash of reddish chocolate toning covering the bust tip and extends to the 1 and star 1. A smaller spot of similar toning shows at star 10. Both of these reddish areas contain traces of microscopic roughness. The rest of the coin is smooth and lustrous. Lustrous light steel brown with bluish steel overtones on the reverse and hints of underlying faded mint red in a couple places. MDS, Breen state II. Called net AU50 and tied for CC#10 in the Bland/Breen census. Called AU55 net EF40 and tied for CC#12 in the Noyes census, photo #39145. Was previously housed in a PCGS slab graded MS63BN (Schick:5351). Our grade is AU50. The attribution and Paul Gerrie provenance are shown on the PCGS label.
