1798 S-161 R2 Style I Hair with Small 8. PCGS graded AU-55. Glossy chocolate and lighter steel brown with frosty lighter brown toning in protected areas. The only marks are some small nicks in the obverse fields, and many of those may be pre-striking planchet chips. A nicely struck, well-balanced cent. M-LDS, Breen state VIII. A strong cud break shows above ATES but some of the dentils over TE remain intact. Noyes graded VF30, tied for CC#17, photo #20275. Our grade is EF40. The attribution and Paul Gerrie provenance are shown on the PCGS label. Pop 1; the Finest graded at PCGS .
