A 6-piece lot of Choice Quality Late Roman and Byzantine Coins. Consists of: Probus, AD 276-282. Silvered AE Antoninianus minted at Antioch, AD 280. Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust of Probus right. Reverse: The emperor standing right, holding eagle-tipped scepter, receiving Victory on globe from Jupiter standing left, holding scepter, "A." between them, XXI in ex. RIC 922. Some light earthen deposits. Most of the silvering intact; Jovian, AD 363-364. AE 19 minted at Heraclea, first officina. Pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed Jovian bust left. Reverse: VOT/V/MVLT/X within wreath; HERACA in ex. RIC 110. Deep olive-green; Jovian, AD 363-364. AE 19 minted at Sirmium, first officina. Pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed Jovian bust right. Reverse: VOT/V/MVLT/X within wreath; ASIRM in ex. RIC 118. Tooling, hairlines on sea-green patina. Boldly defined types; Aelia Flaccilla, 1st wife of Theodosius I (died AD 386). AE 22 Draped bust of Flaccilla wearing head-dress and necklace. Reverse: Victory seated right inscribing Christogram on shield set on cippus; in exergue, CONE. Sear 4192; RIC 81var (T in left field); Byzantine Empire. Constantine VII Porphyrogenitus, AD 913-959, with his mother, Zoe. AE Follis minted at Constantinople, AD 914-919. Facing half-figures of Constantine and Zoe holding patriarchal cross between them. Reverse: Five-line legend. DOC 22, S.1758. Sea-green patina with earthen hues; Anonymous Class A3 Light AE Follis (6.84g), c. AD 1025-1028/35. Facing nimbate bust of Christ, two pellets in each cross limb, holding Book of Gospels - four pellets across top. Reverse: Four-line legend, arabesque above and below. S.1818. A very choice quality group. Mostly Extremely Fine.
