Lot 35

1794 S-60 R3+. PCGS graded AU-53. CAC Approved. Glossy steel and olive brown, possibly lightly cleaned and retoned long ago (certainly prior to the 1989 Jack Robinson sale). Excellent eye appeal with smooth surfaces and only trivial marks. The best identifying mark, and it is trivial, is a light diagonal nick under the junction of the E & N in CENT. M-LDS, Breen state IV, showing a fine die crack from the curl left of the date down to the dentils. Clear die clashmarks are visible at the top of both sides. Graded EF40 and tied for CC#5 in the Noyes census, photo #21767. Bland agrees EF40 and CC#5. Our grade is EF40 as well. The attribution and Paul Gerrie provenance are shown on the PCGS label. Pop 1; 1 finer in 62.
Estimated Value $7,500-UP.
