Lot 34

1794 S-59 R3-. PCGS graded MS-64 Brown. Very attractive lustrous steel and light olive brown with underlying lighter reddish steel brown faded down from mint color in the protected areas. A premium early large cent that offers outstanding eye appeal. The only defects are a barely visible shallow planchet flake high on the neck (and this flake displays slightly darker steel toning), microscopic planchet flakes at LIBE and the top of the cap, and a tiny nick on a leaf left of the O in ONE. Sharply struck early die state, Breen state I, without any die breaks or clashmarks. Called MS60 Choice and CC#3 in the Noyes census lists, photo #22842. Bland agrees MS60 and CC#3. Our grade is MS62. A great cent that comes with an equally impressive provenance. The attribution and Paul Gerrie provenance are shown on the PCGS label. Pop 1; the Finest graded at PCGS .
Estimated Value $50,000-UP.

Also see the note at the end of the lot description for the 1794 S-36 offered earlier in this sale.).
