Lot 335

1802 S-236 R1 VF25. Sharpness EF45, perhaps even better on the obverse, but there is a dull dent or scrape mark on the chin, two more on the neck at the shoulder, a thin one across the ribbon knot, and one more in the field off the lower end of the hair ribbon. These marks do not break the toning but they are significant. The reverse displays only a couple minor marks but that side was cleaned and is mostly retoned. The obverse is an attractive frosty medium brown and chocolate with darker steel brown toning on the highpoints and frosty lighter brown in protected areas. The reverse is a less-attractive steel brown and chocolate with underlying lighter brown and tan in protected areas and a spot of dark toning under the E in AMERICA. MDS, Breen state IV. Might benefit from a better retoning on the reverse.
Estimated Value $400-UP.
