Lot 301

1799 S-189 R2 AG3. Slightly glossy medium brown with dark olive toning in protected areas. The stark contrast in toning accents the designs and aids the eye appeal. Very fine roughness covers much of the planchet, particularly in the fields and protected areas, but there is no verdigris. A dull dent at the bust tip is the only obvious marks, but there are a few small rim nicks on both sides as well. The upper two-thirds of the date is strong but the lower third flows into the rim below. Most of the legends remain easily readable.
Estimated Value $800-UP.
Ex McCawley & Grellman/Superior 2/18/2002:1230 (lot ticket included)-John Ahern.
