Lot 264

1797 S-134 R4 VG10. Glossy chocolate brown and steel. Smooth and attractive for the grade. The only marks are a tiny rim nick left of the lower curls and another right of the fraction. The obverse is slightly sharper than the reverse, as always on this variety that was struck with little or no protective rim on the reverse. LDS, Breen state V. The die cracks through the E in UNITED are strong and the section between the cracks above the E is raised as a retained cud. The date is strong and the legends are complete except for weakness at NE in ONE caused by swelling associated with the late die state.
Estimated Value $300-UP.
