Lot 191

1793 S-1 R4 Chain AMERI PCGS graded Poor-1. Glossy olive brown and steel with lighter chocolate brown toning on the highpoints. The surfaces are mostly smooth, just heavily worn. No verdigris, and the only marks are a small chip out of the planchet in the field behind the head and a half dozen more smaller ones on the reverse. The date is gone but LIBERTY, although weak, remains visible as does at least half of the legend on the reverse. The chain is complete and AMERI is easily readable. Quite a nice Chain AMERI for the grade. Our grade is consistent with the slab grade, although a good argument could be made for Fair-2. The AMERI attribution is noted on the PCGS label.
Estimated Value $1,500-UP.
John Ahern collection.
