1787 Machin's Mills Halfpenny Vlack 17-87B Rarity-2 VF25. Slightly glossy dark olive brown with slightly lighter steel brown toning on the highpoints. The planchet is decent but not perfect and is covered with microscopic granularity. No verdigris, and the only marks are a couple old, light scratches in the field before the neck. M-LDS with obvious swelling left of the shoulder on the obverse and at RIT in BRITAN on the reverse. In addition this piece was struck with a curious tab extending from the edge at the right edge of the bust suggesting there was a break in the planchet cutter. The date is strong. Listed on page 67 in the "Redbook." Weight 117.1 grains.
