Von Braun, Wernher (1912-77) German-American rocket pioneer. He led Nazi Germany's rocket development program, then became the father of the American space program. A 1974 letter from von Braun to Mitchell R. Sharpe at NASA/Marshall Space Flight Center and a copy of the 6-page document which was signed by von Braun and Walter Dornberger (1895-1980) after they were captured in Bavaria and interrogated at Garmisch-Partenkirchen about possibly continuing their experimental work for the U.S. Government. Von Braun's letter clarifies that Dornberger was the other signer of the document and adds, "…this must have been at the very beginning of our stay at Garmisch, as later on a very satisfactory solution was worked out." Very interesting content.
